Official Rules for the “I Love My Paycheck” Photo Contest
Please read the Contest rules and the Terms and Conditions of Participation before submitting your photo entry:
Eligibility
To enter the I Love My Paycheck Photo Contest (the “Contest”), you must be 18 years of age or older and live in the United States. Any individuals (including but not limited to employees, board members, consultants, independent contractors and interns) who have, within the past twelve months, performed services for the LIFE Foundation (“LIFE”) or any organizations responsible for sponsoring, fulfilling, administering, advertising or promoting the Contest or supplying the prize are not eligible.
What to Enter
The photo entry (the “Entry”) will consist of a photograph that is no larger than 2 MB in size with an accompanying caption of no more than 125 characters, which will be made exclusively using LIFE’s third-party, social-media I Love My Paycheck application (the “Application”). The caption will consist of completing the sentence “I love my paycheck because …” and the accompanying photo will show what is described and/or who is pictured. Examples might include a family enjoying time together in their home or a memorable vacation.
You are responsible for attesting to the fact that you have the permission of all individuals in the photograph to display their image and likeness. If your photograph is chosen to be used in promotional efforts by LIFE, you may be required to provide such permission in writing.
Your Rights
You will retain all rights to the photograph you submit—including ownership, if applicable—other than those rights described in the next sentence. By entering the Contest, you hereby grant to LIFE (i) a nonexclusive, worldwide, irrevocable, royalty-free license to reproduce, distribute, publicly display and publicly perform the Entry you submit to the Contest in all media now known or developed in the future (ii) the right to use your name, photograph, likeness and biographical data in connection with the Entry and any derivatives thereof, and (iii) the right to use your name, city, state and country of residence in promotions and other publications, both print and online.
All photographs will be credited with the caption “© Year. Person’s Name”. LIFE has final approval of any language that appears on its website with the photographs and will not promote or endorse third-party products or services.

How to Enter
Your Entry must be submitted using the Application, available at these links: http://www.facebook.com/lifehappens.org and http://www.protectyourpaycheck.org
To have your Entry considered for judging, you must provide LIFE with you email address, as the Grand Prize Winner will be notified by email. Email addresses will not be shared or used for any other purpose.
If you have trouble using the social-media site, please consult its online help files. LIFE is not responsible for any issues or problems you encounter while trying create and publish your photo Entry.
LIFE will accept Entries beginning at 12:00 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time on May 1, 2012 through the month of May, ending at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time on May 31, 2012.
LIFE reserves the right to adjust any deadline(s) as the result of causes beyond its immediate control.
Judging
One Grand Prize Winner will be chosen by a judging panel consisting of several members of LIFE’s Board of Directors and staff, based on how compelling and meaningful the Entry is. Originality and overall impact will also be considered in the selection of the winner. The winner will be announced on or about August 1, 2012.
LIFE shall determine winner eligibility in its sole and absolute discretion. All decisions made by the judges are final.
Prizes
The Grand Prize will be one (1) new iPad® with an average retail value of $523.95. The winner is responsible for all federal, state and local taxes on the value of the Grand Prize.

Terms and Conditions of Participation
By entering, participants agree to indemnify, defend and hold harmless the LIFE Foundation (“LIFE”), its respective subsidiaries, affiliates, directors, officers, employees, member companies, attorneys, agents and representatives, from any and all third-party liability for any injuries, loss, claim, action, demand or damage of any kind arising from or in connection with the competition (collectively, “Losses”), including, without limitation, defamation, any third-party claim for copyright infringement or a violation of an individual’s right to privacy and/or publicity right. The Contest is void where prohibited by law.
Each participant in the Contest (each a “Participant”) is responsible for ensuring that he or she has the right to submit his or her photograph to the Contest per these rules (see additional “Compliance Alert” below).
The Grand Prize Winner must provide his or her name, address, and Social Security number to LIFE, and is responsible for payment of all income taxes due on account of his or her receipt of the prize.
You agree that any and all disputes that cannot be resolved with LIFE, and causes of action arising out of or connected with this Contest, shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action, before a court of competent jurisdiction located in Arlington, Virginia, which court shall apply the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia without regard for rules of conflicts of law. IN ANY SUCH DISPUTE, PARTICIPANT SHALL NOT BE ENTITLED TO ANY PUNITIVE, SPECIAL, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION ATTORNEYS’ FEES, OR ANY DAMAGES OTHER THAN PARTICIPANT’S ACTUAL OUT-OF-POCKET EXPENSES (IF ANY) ASSOCIATED WITH PARTICIPATING IN THE CONTEST. YOU HEREBY WAIVE ANY RIGHTS TO HAVE DAMAGES MULTIPLIED OR INCREASED. The Contest, the Application and LIFE’s websites are provided “as is” without warranty of any kind, either expressed or implied.
LIFE is not responsible for any incorrect or inaccurate information, whether caused by website users or by any equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the photo competition, or by any technical or human error that may occur in the processing of submissions to the photo competition, including but not limited to any misprints or typographical errors. LIFE assumes no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorized access to, or alteration of, entries. LIFE is not responsible for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer equipment, servers, providers, computer on-line systems, software, or failure of email on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any website, including injury or damage to participant’s or to any other person’s computer related to or resulting from participating or uploading images or information in the photo contest.
If, for any reason, the photo competition is not capable of completion as planned, including, but not limited to, any reason of infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures or any other causes beyond the control of LIFE that corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of the photo competition, LIFE reserves the right at its sole discretion to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the photo competition.
LIFE is also not responsible for any questionable or inappropriate material that is uploaded to LIFE’s social-media page or website, which will be displaying the photo application and results. LIFE staff will do its best to remove said material as quickly as possible.
COMPLIANCE ALERT: If you are a licensed insurance agent, be advised that the insurance companies you do business with may not permit its sales representatives to use social-media sites and applications for business-related purposes. Before entering the I Love My Paycheck Photo Contest or encouraging clients and prospective clients to enter, please check with the companies with which you do business to find out if policies exist that prohibit your participation in promotions of this nature.
